‘Max Steel’ Lead Actors Announced
A pair of newcomers were announced yesterday as the male and female leads in Dolphin Films and Mattel’s upcoming live action adaptation of the toy franchise Max Steel, set to begin filming in Wilmington, North Carolina soon. Ben Winchell (A.N.T. Farm, Necessary Roughness) has signed on to play the lead role of Max McGrath, who teams with his alien pal Steel to form the titular superhero, while Ana Villafane (Hiding) will play Max’s love interest Sydney Gardner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Multiple sources have reported this month that Mattel’s big screen adaptation of their popular toy line and animated series Max Steel is set to open production offices in Wilmington, North Carolina in January, with filming to begin in February. It was announced back in September that Mattel would be teaming up with Dolphin Entertainment and Open Road Films to develop a live-action feature film based on the “Max Steel” character, to be written by Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World) and directed by Stewart Hendler (H+, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn).
