Studio Charlotte Responds to Economic Council Committee Decision

The developer of the proposed Studio Charlotte says the project is not dead, but is "on life support".

The developer of Studio Charlotte, the proposed film studio project at the former Eastland Mall site in Charlotte, North Carolina, has issued an official response to the city’s recent Economic Council Committee decision not to extend a Memorandum of Understanding. Aimee Garcia and Shanley Caswell Enter ‘Red Zone’

Shanley Caswell will return to Wilmington, North Carolina for 'Red Zone'.

Filming in Wilmington, North Carolina in April, Red Zone will see the return of Dexter‘s Aimee Garcia (Robocop) to television, alongside Shanley Caswell of The Conjuring, also filmed in Wilmington. Garcia will play Vera Bradley, “a whip-smart, driven, and impatient case officer with the CIA’s Counter-Terrorism department”, while Caswell will play CIA Operative Holden Weller’s daughter, “a cute but slightly awkward teenager with a lively interest in world affairs”, according to Deadline.

NC Secretary of Commerce Says Film Incentives Will Return!

North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Sharon Decker says that the state’s film incentives will be expanded, at least in some form, beyond the current sunset at the end of this year, with plans to have legislation ready for the upcoming short session of the General Assembly, in hopes that there will be no gap in the incentive program, according to the Charlotte Business Journal.
