Outer Banks, NC To Host Halloween International Film Festival

HalloWeek on the Outer Banks, North Carolina just got a whole lot bigger with the addition this year of the inaugural Halloween International Film Festival, presented by Halloween Daily News and OBX Entertainment over three days in October, featuring independent films submitted from around the world.

In addition to the Official Selections chosen from among the entries in the short film and feature film categories, to be screened in competition during the Festival, each night will conclude with a Featured Selection screening of special showcased independent movies that celebrate the theme and mission of the event.

This year’s Featured Selections will be revealed in the coming weeks, and the official submission period for films to be entered into the competition will open starting on June 1, at which time the complete list of rules for submissions and entry forms will be posted online at OBXentertainment.com.

UPDATE: Early Deadline for Film Submissions is July 1!

Final Deadline for Film Submissions is September 1!

The first Halloween International Film Festival will take place on the Outer Banks, North Carolina during Halloween Weekend, October 27-29, 2016, to be followed by the 3rd Annual Outer Banks Halloween Parade of Costumes on Sunday, October 30.

All Festival film screenings will be shown at RC Theatres Movies 10 in Kill Devil Hills. Information on how to purchase tickets in advance will be announced in the coming weeks.

Official accommodations will be available at a special discounted rate for Film Festival attendees at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk and the Ramada Plaza in Kill Devil Hills, both located on the beautiful Outer Banks oceanfront with scenic ocean view rooms and free public beach access, just minutes from the host venue RC Theatres.

The mission of the Halloween International Film Festival is to promote the artistry of independent films made in the spirit of creativity, support the future of cinema by providing exposure for talented visionary filmmakers, and celebrate a collective passion for Halloween.

Known as the “land of beginnings”, the Outer Banks of North Carolina is the site of America’s first urban legend, The Lost Colony of Roanoke Island, the true story of the first English colonists to land in the new world only to mysteriously vanish without explanation in 1587.

The Outer Banks is also where the infamous pirate Blackbeard was killed and reportedly still haunts the small, isolated island of Ocracoke; and it is where the Wright Brothers launched mankind toward the stars with the first powered flight in 1903, in what is now the town of Kill Devil Hills.

Full details and updated news, including the rules and guidelines for film submissions, as well as accommodations discounts and the festival screening schedule, will be announced in the coming weeks at OBXentertainment.com.

Sponsors for this event include Halloween Daily News, RC Theatres, Hilton Garden Inn Kitty Hawk, Ramada Plaza Nags Head Oceanfront, and Dare County Arts Council.
