‘The Choice’ Production Dates, Director Announced

Confirming our story from back in July, a second Nicholas Sparks novel adaptation will be filmed in North Carolina this year, following The Longest Ride earlier this summer, as a director has been named and production dates announced for The Choice.

The movie adaptation of 'The Choice' will be filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The film adaptation of Sparks’ novel The Choice will also be shot in Wilmington and Wrighsville Beach, North Carolina, with production to begin on October 13 and run for 30 days.

Oscar nominated producer  of In the Bedroom and Lost in Translation and director of Taking Chance, Ross Katz will direct The Choice. We will have cast announcements as soon as they are confirmed.

This will be the fifth Nicholas Sparks movie filmed in North Carolina, following A Walk to Remember, Nights in Rodanthe, Safe Haven, and The Longest Ride, which opens in theaters on April 10, 2015.

You can read the full synopsis of the The Choice below.

Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life—boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies—he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door.

Despite his attempts to be neighborly, the appealing redhead seems to have a chip on her shoulder about him…and the presence of her longtime boyfriend doesn’t help. Despite himself, Travis can’t stop trying to ingratiate himself with his new neighbor, and his persistent efforts lead them both to the doorstep of a journey that neither could have foreseen.

Spanning the eventful years of young love, marriage and family, The Choice ultimately confronts us with the most heartwrenching question of all: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

The movie adaptation of 'The Choice' will be filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.

If Nicholas Sparks were aware of an archaic discriminatory common law in North Carolina, I know he wouldn’t want to support a state that used this law to further harm individuals-and I know he would want to protect anyone from it in his production.

Bottom line, do not come here-there are so many other beautiful places to work and visit that also provide peace of mind.
