Joe Manganiello Enlists In History Channel SEAL Team ‘Six’

Wilmington, North Carolina has been selected as the filming location for the upcoming History Channel series Six, a new scripted drama that is inspired by real missions from the military special operations unit Navy SEAL Team Six, and we have some updated casting news for you.

Former True Blood werewolf Joe Manganiello has joined the cast of action military drama, according to Variety, and he will play Rip Taggart, a onetime leader of the SEAL Team Six squad who now patrols an African village to protect its residents from Boko Haram.

Additional cast members recently announced include Barry Sloane (Revenge), Dominic Adams, Edwin Hodge, Kyle Schmidt, and Juan Pablo Raba.

William Boyles (“Cast Away”) and military special operations vet David Boyles are writing the series.

Speaking about the new series at the Television Critics Association press tour last month in Pasadena, Calif., A&E and History president Paul Buccieri said, “The backdrop surrounding this elite team of American soldiers — from their lives at home to the astonishing bravery they display serving our country — provides an amazing canvas for stories that deserve to be told.”

The History Channel has ordered eight episodes of the military action drama from A&E Studios and The Weinstein Company.

Production is ongoing now in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Six is the second new show to set up production in Wilmington this year, following the TNT drama Good Behavior, which began production last month.
